Peak Consult Perspective for: InCognito X
Countless hours of measuring and Critical listening have already gone into making the InCognito series, so what could be done to make this superior speaker even better?
We made The InCognito X

The Name
The InCognito X, is the 10 years anniversary of the award winning InCognito,
The InCognito X boasts an extremely linear frequency response, on-axis as well as of-axis, with tube amplifiers as well as solid state. This makes it a very accurate loudspeaker in a “real World” environment, becoming even more “InCognito” in almost every room. Taking the place as the possible best 2-way loudspeaker in the World.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION - STEREOPHILE REVIEW

Peak Consult InCognito X

Enclosure
The multifaceted enclosure is handcrafted in our own facilities by Danish artisans in a 1.5” HDF sandwich material covered by 1” Selected solid hard wood chosen by authorised Danish Carpenters.
The design was made to optimise the off-axis response and minimize diffraction. There are no parallel front, back, top or bottom panels in order to minimize the acoustical waves. The slant of the front panel corrects the phase and time alignment between tweeter and woofer. The termination plate and the front plate have been made in stainless lacquered steel. For the termination we have chosen WBT.

Transducers
The 1” Scan-Speak tweeter is a non-Ferro fluid hand coated silk dome tweeter that includes Symmetric Drive and a magnet system that eliminate phase shift and optimise the linear directivity.
The 7” Audiotechnology midrange is hand built and specially designed for optimal effect in this enclosure of the InCognito X. The driver features a cone that has been uniquely shaped for this moving system and a vented magnet system that includes Symmetric Drive to optimise the linear directivity.
Networks

The InCognito X includes a refined, fully compensated acoustical second order crossover. Every component have been measured and chosen for its sonic and musical behaviour, with no consideration for cost, not even the compensation parts. The crossover is hardwired with silver solder and sealed in a special damped chamber to avoid microfony and to shield it from electrical and magnetic radiation from rest of the system. The crossover is made with a linear Impedance and electrical phase. All internal wiring has been made with special elliptical tube silver wire from Stereovox.

Finishes

The InCognito is available in a number of finishes:

   Standard solid wood types:
    Rosewood, oak and beechwood.

   Special solid wood types:
Wood stained in all colours, walnut or high gloss Piano Black or Silver metallic.

   Special solid wood types:
Other special wood finishes can be done on special request.

German Physiks The Unicorn MKII On live recordings, such as Harry Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall [LSO 6007] or Chet Baker in Sweden [Dragon, DRLP 56], stray footfalls, hands tapping soundboxes, and so on form a continuous ambient seepage over the Unicorns. At the same time, the reverberant field that constitutes hall ambiance is followed down to the furthest
pianissimo level. - The Absolute Sound, DAN SWEENEY

Acapella LaCampanella"The Acapella LaCampanella is the best horn speaker I have experienced in memory. Never mind the LaCampella being a horn speaker, because they are one of the most differentiating in tonality among speakers I've used. Listening to music via the Acapella could drive a reviewer to retire, and I found myself listening harder to other speakers in constant search of a flamboyancy when the Acapella was taken out of the system." - by Constantine Soo September 3, 2005

Peak Consult Empress"If the standard is whether or not I would live with a speaker, the Empress is about as highly recommended as they come... ...Would I buy 'em if I had $25 grand? Oh, heavens to Betsy, yes. It wasn't love at first sight but I could listen to the Empress for a lifetime." - Wes Phillips,Stereophile

Kharma Ceramique 2.3"climb right into the venue of the music and watch the musicians perform. No other loudspeaker has done this for me. It is an extraordinary experience, way beyond the loudspeakers merely disappearing." - Enjoy the Music
