System 1 The Ultimate Vinyl/Digital Dream system- Introduction
Michael Fremmer just bought a Continuum Turntable. Considering his old turntable was a Simon Yorke Series 7 this is quite a statement. The Simon Yorke has had many accolades heaped upon it and the outright cost of upgrading to the Continuum show you that this is a serious move and not one for the faint of heart. Why would you do this, simply read the Stereophile review and you will see that all other products (including the Rockport) are eclipsed by this engineering marvel. "Unfortunately, my imagination could not prepare me for what the 2008 delivered. I don't remember the first LP I played, but within a minute of listening I was no longer concerned with the sound of the music. What the 2008 delivered was the music's meaning. That's what you get for $29,000: communication—a direct connection to the intentions of the musicians. That may sound pretentious, but it's what I experienced in those first few hours of listening, with every genre of music." - STEREOPHILE , Michael Fremer, July, 2002 Not to be let down by CD, let me introduce the Zanden 2000P, I need say nothing but pass you over to the words of Roy Gregory "...Previously, if someone had offered to replace my record
players and record collection wholesale with CDs and a player of
my choice, I'd have questioned their sanity and then shown them the
door. Now I'd have to consider that offer seriously. That's
how big a step the Zanden digital electronics represent. They don't
sound like any CD player I've ever heard before. They sound
better. They don't sound like any turntable either - they're different.
In many ways, they've redefined my expectations of recorded music.
Just when you thought CD was dying if not exactly dead, Zanden
have brought it back to real breathing life -- somewhere it's never
been before -- and that's good news for all of us ..." Roy Gregory, HiFi+, March 2005 To follow up on the sources we have the best amplification system known to man, the Boulder 2000 Series, not to be left out are Wavac with the SH833, bi-amping with the Boulders. The last statement may lead you to believe that I have finally gone insane, but let me assure you that this is the ultimate package and if you can afford it then why not push the boat out and do the bi-amping solution. From a sonic perspective it is totally unbeatable. Its so far ahead of anything else that I have ever heard that its not even funny. As for the loudspeakers, two radically different designs, both are an excellent and well crafted designs. Differing in sounds and looks, what one will win your heart. Both transfer the subtleties and nuance of the music, both communicate the performance in a very meaningful and emotional way. We are under no illusion about the cost of this system, it is for the select few who want the very best with absolutely no compromise and that is what this system provides with no compromise in either the analogue or digital side. You cannot get closer to the actual event as recorded without mastertape. |
