TIDAL CONTRIVA

The Contriva is huge, powerful, and incredibly beautiful. It is the fastest and most precise loudspeaker in its class, and will faithfully reproduce the lowest bass frequencies. This gentle giant performs equally well with the softest or most dynamic passages of the musical spectrum. A pure music machine and a tool with the precision of a scalpel.

about Tidal

Words alone cannot effectively describe the "TIDAL sound". Naturally, we could use objective descriptions such as "ruler-smooth frequency response", "ultra fast step response" and excessive adjectives like "neutrality" and "amazing soundstage". But we expect these qualities to be a successful by-product of accurate engineering stemming from our goal of reaching for perfection.

However, accuracy alone does not touch the heart. A delicate balance between information & emotion must be struck for a perfect union. Excellent sound is not enough; music is the goal.

What do you get from the Contriva that you do not get from the Piano, more power and scale, the sound becomes bigger. The bass is faster with more punch and weight, digging deeper into the recording. The piano shimmer is more lifelike, I could go on.

By utilising the unique AEROTUNE™ System, 3-times adjustable, the contriva is very flexible and uncritical in room placement and bass quality.

Tidal have extensively researched their crossover design using the ceramic drivers for both the midrange and treble and matching in a magnesium bass unit to give a seemless blend throughout the frequency spectrum.

Acapella Violin MKIII"The title track of The Raven [Chesky 115] is one of my all time favorites. Through the High Violons, the glorious swooping sadness of Pidgeon’s voice radiated from a huge glowing orb between the speakers that reached out in all directions into the room. Background strings were dead-perfect timbrally, separated, delicate, living and breathing. I had the impression of being enveloped and touched on all sides by the blue-white radiance of the sound. It may not be surprising that a selection containing so much information in the treble was so exquisitely rendered through the Violons, but I hesitate to dismiss the experience. My notes from that session say "I can die now." - Ultra Audio Ross Mantle

Peak Consult Empress"If the standard is whether or not I would live with a speaker, the Empress is about as highly recommended as they come... ...Would I buy 'em if I had $25 grand? Oh, heavens to Betsy, yes. It wasn't love at first sight but I could listen to the Empress for a lifetime." - Wes Phillips,Stereophile

Kharma Ceramique 2.3 Reference monitor "climb right into the venue of the music and watch the musicians perform. No other loudspeaker has done this for me. It is an extraordinary experience, way beyond the loudspeakers merely disappearing." - Enjoy the Music

German Physics The Borderland MKIII "...At the forte part of orchestral music, I could surely feel the natural balance and vivid feeling: the touch of the piano and the percussion sound was so real. The Borderland captured me with its sound....It seemed like the speaker was very revealing of the amplifier.Compared with the MBL 101, which sounds clear but light, the Borderland will surprise you by the powerful sound.
