The Zanden Audio Model 3000 Linestage

The model 3000 represents the world's finest pre-amplifier. Its design is simple, elegant and like all Zanden products addresses various technical challenges facing the reproduction of recorded music. In this sense it perfectly complements our other products.

It is often said in a complimentary fashion that the component just disappeared and only the music was left. This is especially critical for a preamplifier, as it is not absolutely necessary for musical reproduction. However, it has many practical functions, such as controlling volume and selecting sources, and many people find it indispensable. Thus, the challenge was to create a preamplifier, which maintains the integrity of the musical signal as well as providing convenience.

At the heart of the model 3000 is a unique single-ended circuit, which utilizes a single vacuum tube! It is a very, very simple but very difficult to execute design. The model 3000 incorporates transformers at the XLR inputs, as well as both outputs. This allows Zanden to isolate the Model 3000 from other components in the system. When using the XLR inputs, the model 3000 operates in true balanced configuration, which rejects common mode noise. Thanks to the low output impedance, long cable runs can be used. Also, the model 3000 benefits from Zandenﾕs breakthrough research regarding the use of noise shielding materials, and a separate power supply ensures a hum free musical experience. As expected only the highest quality parts are used throughout.

The visual appearance of the model 3000 is nearly as stunning as the musical reproduction. The 16 mm thick machined aluminum panels and mirror finished stainless steel cover perfectly match our other products. The model 3000 has an elegant appearance which looks as if it was conceived in an art studio. However, beauty is more than skin deep. Simply rotating one of the high quality switches or the volume control is extremely satisfying. Words that come to mind: precise, smooth, solid, built for a lifetime. Sonically, aesthetically the model 3000 is true high-end.

Description

The Model 3000 preamplifier can control up to 4 sources. It has 4 inputs: 3 RCA and 1 XLR. At the output there are 2 pairs of RCA and XLR connectors, so bi-amping is a snap. At both the XLR input and output a balanced signal is achieved using transformers. The Model 3000 incorporates a unique single-ended circuit with no negative feedback. A phase switch is conveniently located on the front panel, allowing you to easily check the phase of your speakers or recordings. The main unit connects to the separate power supply via an included 10-pin cable. The separate power supply has an IEC power cable receptacle. Noise shielding materials are used throughout.
